Route 08 · La Gomera day trip from Tenerife
One island. One day. One adventure.
If you're staying in Tenerife and have a free day, La Gomera is absolutely worth the trip. It is a small island, but the landscape changes constantly: laurel forests, cliffs, volcanic beaches, ravines and small villages.

Itinerary
08:00 — TENERIFE → LA GOMERA. Take the first ferry that fits your day and start the adventure from San Sebastián. 09:30 — SAN SEBASTIÁN. Walk through the old town and see some of the most important sights in the island's capital. 11:00 — LOS ROQUES. Head inland to see volcanic formations such as the Roque de Agando. An essential stop for photography. 12:00 — GARAJONAY. Head into the laurel forest and enjoy one of the most singular landscapes in the Canaries. 14:00 — AGULO. Carry on north and visit one of the prettiest villages on the island.
Abrante viewpoint
One of the best panoramas over Agulo and, when conditions allow, across to Tenerife. 16:00 — VALLE GRAN REY. Drop down to the coast and find a completely different landscape, with cliffs, palm trees and ocean. 18:00–19:00 — HEADING BACK. Return to San Sebastián for the ferry back to Tenerife.
Worth knowing
This route is intense. If you'd rather travel unhurried and take the island in slowly, we suggest giving it two or three days.
VviewCanarias tip
Don't try to photograph everything. La Gomera is an island for driving, stopping and discovering.

Route 01
The roof of Spain
There are places you visit and places you remember. Climbing Teide belongs to the second kind. At 3,715 metres, Teide dominates Tenerife and offers one of the most striking landscapes in the Canaries. To really enjoy it, it is worth planning the visit and giving it time.
Route 02
The Tenerife many visitors never get to see
If you want to discover a greener, quieter, more authentic Tenerife, drive north. Historic towns, roads winding through banana plantations, cliffs, natural pools and some of the island's most spectacular scenery make this one of our favourite routes.
Route 03
The forest where Tenerife feels like another island
Anaga is one of those places you struggle to believe is in Tenerife. Mountains, mist, narrow roads, ravines and small villages hidden among the vegetation make up one of the most remarkable landscapes in the Canaries.
