Route 07 · Garajonay National Park
Stepping into a forest millions of years old
If Tenerife is volcanic, La Gomera looks like something out of a fantasy film. At the centre of the island lies Garajonay National Park, one of the great natural treasures of the Canaries.

Before you set off
From Tenerife you can cross by ferry to San Sebastián de La Gomera. Once there, we recommend having a car to get around the island.
Juego de Bolas
A good first stop to get to know the park and understand the ecosystem of La Gomera.
El Cedro
One of the most special places in the park. Damp forest, lush vegetation and paths surrounded by laurel forest.
Alto de Garajonay
The highest point on La Gomera. When the weather plays along, the views are spectacular.
Walking
There are trails at different levels of difficulty. One good option is the route between El Contadero and El Cedro.
What to bring
Suitable footwear. Water. Warm clothing. Rain protection. Some food if you're doing a long walk.
VviewCanarias tip
Don't look only for grand landscapes. Get close to the trees, the leaves, the moss and the light coming through the forest. The magic of Garajonay is in the small details too.
Where to stay
Our homes are spread across Tenerife and La Gomera, so almost all of these routes are a short drive away.

Route 01
The roof of Spain
There are places you visit and places you remember. Climbing Teide belongs to the second kind. At 3,715 metres, Teide dominates Tenerife and offers one of the most striking landscapes in the Canaries. To really enjoy it, it is worth planning the visit and giving it time.
Route 02
The Tenerife many visitors never get to see
If you want to discover a greener, quieter, more authentic Tenerife, drive north. Historic towns, roads winding through banana plantations, cliffs, natural pools and some of the island's most spectacular scenery make this one of our favourite routes.
Route 03
The forest where Tenerife feels like another island
Anaga is one of those places you struggle to believe is in Tenerife. Mountains, mist, narrow roads, ravines and small villages hidden among the vegetation make up one of the most remarkable landscapes in the Canaries.
